New map: Mediterreanean Year One

hi all,
i am proud to release my first custom map after MANY hours of drawing and tweeking. It is based on the Roman Empire in the year 1 and extended by other nations from the following centuries. I tried to create historically correct borders and area names from the oldest maps I could find on http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/.
There still is a pattern error which I mention in another thread, but it does not disturb the game, it is only visual.
I am looking forward to your comments and would be happy to improve the map from your ideas.
Enjoy!

EDIT: this is the latest map version with bug fixes

I appreciate all your hard work and the map looks fantastic. I haven't been able to get it to load? I've tried it on three different computer systems and no luck with getting it to play.

ok, first mistake on my part: i forgot that the folder has to have exactly the same name as the game "Mediterranean Year One". i renamed the download file *slapping myself*
does it help?

Game loaded and everything went fine until the battle sequence started. The same error screen appeared as before and it went into lock up. If you click Ok on the error message or X it out the whole game goes away. I tried this on three different computers and got the same result. It's so close to working!

thank you for your feedback.
i disabled Direct3D on my machine. when i enabled it, on the first start after that the game crashed before the first battle. after that, it worked even with Direct3D enabled.
try disabling direct3D. i cannot think of anything else you might try....
maybe post a screenshot of the full error message for kroah?
good luck!

edit: i got i to work again after starting the game three times without direct3d. this is the error message i got before:

Ok. I tried it on three machines with different versions of windows. Windows 7 it ran for a full turn and then crashed. Windows Vista it didn't run after the combat started, Windows XP it didn't run after the combat round started. I'll try and capture the screens as I got different error messages. I ran the game on each machine three times at least both with direct 3D on and then three times with it off. Same results.

Hello,

Very nice map!

Concerning the crash, I will have a look during the week if you don't solve the problem before.

You receive a "division by 0" exception because you have set neutral countries with navy which is actually forbidden.

I will add this feature in the next release.
You will then be able to set the defensive navy factor for neutrals in 2 ways :
- by setting the default neutral area value <NeutralNavyFactorDef> in the <DefaultArea> tag (like <NeutralArmyFactorDef>).
- or by using the <NeutralNavyFactorDef> in the <Area> tag (like <NeutralArmyFactorDef>).

FYI, values set in the <Area> tag always take precedence over values in the <DefaultArea> tag.

Until the next release, you must set <Navy>0</Navy> in the <DefaultArea> tag (instead of <Navy>[10;150]</Navy>).

Im missing 3 things:
- a border between raetia and vindelicia
- the germans
- the kelts (maybe two majors? one in france and one in england? or add the scots as well)
